ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 delves into the complex world of coping strategies, offering readers a comprehensive introduction to both general approaches and those specifically rooted in an Islāmic perspective. The primary aim of this chapter is to equip readers with a profound understanding of coping skills while emphasising their application within an Islāmic context, and it sheds light on five distinct and identifiable Islāmic coping strategies that serve as pillars of strength for Muslims during times of adversity, difficulty, and hardship. Drawing from the rich tapestry of Islāmic teachings and traditions, these strategies offer valuable insights into how individuals can navigate life's challenges with resilience and faith. The chapter also illuminates how healing should be aligned with the Qur’ân and Sunnah which serves as a guidance and solace during times of distress. Additionally, the chapter delves into the concept of well-being from an Islāmic standpoint, underscoring the holistic nature of Islāmic teachings and their profound impact on individual well-being, including the significant role of human reason and intellect in relation to well-being within the Islāmic framework.
