ABSTRACT
The chapter provides answers to many relevant questions to understand freedom of belief and expression in the Qur’an. Who are Muslims from a pure Qur’anic perspective? What does the Qur’an say about the people of the Book? What is infidelity in the Qur’an? What about apostasy? Who are hypocrites? By using the Qur’an to interpret the Qur’an (tafsīr al-Qurʾān bi-l-Qurʾān), this chapter provides an attempt to rethink and revive the overlooked Qur’anic global humanitarian and peace-promoting message.
