ABSTRACT

This first chapter considers how the case study (or case) fits into a wider course or programme as one of many classroom approaches that lecturers or professors might adopt. It explores how universities and colleges use cases as one tool in the class tutor’s toolkit of learning resources. It provides information to explain the four processes of experiential learning students are likely to go through when using the case method and explores the role that they should take as case participants to ensure the case session genuinely contributes to their learning and development.
