ABSTRACT

Assessment provides important information about student progress. It is essential for teachers to respond to assessment data by addressing any areas of student need. This chapter describes the process of intervention where teachers and students continue working together to develop mastery of important skills and concepts. Teachers should identify any concepts where students need support, design and implement targeted instruction, and re-assess students’ abilities after the intervention is complete. Facilitating interventions for a diverse classroom of students requires planning. This chapter provides strategies for identifying areas of intervention as well as helpful suggestions for designing and implementing effective interventions within the classroom.
