ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book addresses the issue of the genealogy, expansion and hegemony of demo-liberal constitutional discourse. It primarily devotes to the crisis of the formerly hegemonic discursive formation and to illiberalism, including the intellectual relationship between the way of thinking and the contradictions of the liberal approach. The book deals with the coronavirus pandemic, which could play the role of a Derridean specter, thus firmly rooted in the past but also heralding further major changes in constitutional discourse. It deals with how the former hegemony has responded to the constitutional crisis and then presents ‘typology’ of scenarios for further developments.
