ABSTRACT

Many educators and teachers take school administration so much for granted that they end up knowing very little or nothing at all about the different things involved in the process. Since the advent of the school in Nigeria there have been various forms of administration. Before the advent of the white man's school in Africa, what are now known as bush schools were generally administered by the head of the community and its elders. Finances for the running of the schools came largely from contributions sent from Britain and were therefore administered by the managers. Administration of education in Nigeria saw a far-reaching code in the 1926 Ordinance. The colonial government increased its interest in all forms of education hitherto established by the church missionary societies. The staff meeting is the backbone of a good school communication system.
