ABSTRACT
Chapter 17 is focused on Hollywood and the entertainment industry. It illustrates the topic by presenting two different stories. The first story is with one of the producers of the show East Los High, describing the difficulties the show’s creators and producers encountered to find a distribution partner that believed and supported an authentic story focused on predominantly Hispanic characters.
Second, the chapter discusses with a Black entertainment executive her perspectives regarding the same topic and how multicultural stories may be relevant to non-diverse viewers too.
