ABSTRACT

The chapter begins by discussing the impact of corpus linguistics on the understanding of language and the incorporation of corpus information in ELT resources. It then looks at data-driven learning and some of the problems involved. A significant challenge to ELT has been the rapid move to online teaching occasioned by the 2020 Covid pandemic. This has brought about major changes in teacher-learner and learner-learner interactions compared with face-to-face classrooms. The chapter also briefly discusses mobile learning and concludes with a look at automated assessment and adaptive feedback on student work and the role of artificial intelligence.
