ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 answers the why: Why choose appreciative inquiry (AI) as the preferred change model? Change is continuously happening in the educational environment whether at the school level or the district level. Educational leaders lean on "what works", the evidenced-based or scientific-based research. Several reasons why one would use AI change model are discussed. AI has a proven track record that expedites the change process. AI is a solutions-based process as opposed to the traditional problem-solving method. The AI change model is approached from a positive mindset, is results-oriented, is non- hierarchical, involving a range of people from a few to large numbers as people work collaboratively through the four-step, guiding framework co-constructing a desired future. AI is a proven, change model used around the world.
