Introduction

This introductory chapter aims to introduce the notion of translanguaging and the different types of multilingual education programmes. I will first begin with problematic definitions of English-medium instruction (EMI) and how EMI differs from other immersion programmes including content and language integrated learning (CLIL) and content-based immersion (CBI). I will also summarise all the chapters presented in this book.
