ABSTRACT

This introduction chapter defines key terms such as: Neurodiverse couple, neurodivergence, and neurotypicality. It also clarifies the scope of the four sections of this book (Foundational Concepts, Best Practices, Clinical Application, and Case Studies) and its use of Identity-First Language (IFL). Neurodiverse Couple Therapy introduces a new treatment modality for neurodiverse couples in private practice outpatient settings. This specific application of Brain-Informed Care (BIC) is called Brain-Informed Neurodiverse Couple Therapy (BINCT).
