ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces a fictional couple married for 22 years. Julio is a 50-year-old Hispanic male and Celia is a 47-year-old Hispanic female. The couple has three biological children who range in age from 13 to 17 years old, and have also been raising Celia’s five-year-old nephew since he was an infant. They live in Naples, Florida and choose to attend 25 non-consecutive, in-person sessions of Brain-Informed Neurodiverse Couple Therapy (BINCT). This therapy modality was intentionally selected by Celia, who is neurotypical, to address their marital issues. Like one of their biological children, she suspects Julio may be Autistic.
