ABSTRACT

This chapter will recount narratives of how different members of Pathway 1 and Pathway 2 schools live out, understand and enact their experience of a family–school partnership. The voices and perspectives belong to various stakeholders – teachers, school leaders and parents. Each narrative highlights one or more of the key themes of shared power, trust or communication. In some cases, the line between each theme is blurred, and they become interwoven, which is how a school culture forms and is lived out: The interaction of various everyday activities work together to become the norm of behaviour, and thus, the dominant culture. In this narrative, stories of family–school partnerships are understood from the perspective of a staff member and a parent.
