ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the important topic of support. None of us can get along without support and this is particularly important when it comes to planning and making a successful career transition. This chapter, therefore, looks at the importance of investing time to identify and build up a network to help you with your career aspirations. It looks at the building and nurturing of networks, finding a mentor, and how to get back in touch after some time out where you might feel that your past contacts are now ‘cold’ or have moved on. The chapter also looks at how to create a network of contacts if you are looking to break into a new sector or skill area.
