ABSTRACT

Skills-based training is a vital component of preparing teens and young adults for their future careers. Skills-based training programs have been proven to be more effective in providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen careers. This chapter discusses the key elements of setting up a successful skills-based training program for teens and young adults. The first step in setting up a skills-based training program is to identify the skills that are in demand in today's job market. This can be done by researching job listings, talking to industry experts, and consulting with local businesses. Once teachers have identified the skills that are in demand, the next step is to develop a curriculum that will teach those skills to their students. The next step is to find instructors who have the knowledge and experience to teach the skills teachers have identified.
