ABSTRACT

This chapter will continue the research by delving into the creation of a Slavic witch portrait based on the example of Polish witches. This depiction will encompass the self-perception, beliefs, and practices of the surveyed Slavic witches, along with their engagements on social media associated with spiritual pursuits. Hence, the conducted inquiry comprises two segments. The initial segment is dedicated to self-perception, beliefs, and practices, while the subsequent segment draws upon the information expounded in the preceding chapter pertaining to social media activities, albeit confined exclusively to the aforementioned group of Polish witches. The objective of this chapter is to further explore the analysis discussed in the preceding section. As witchcraft practice is not a uniform religion, unlike the prior chapter, which was based on the religious division between Catholics and neopagans, this chapter focuses solely on the witch community. The presented outcomes depict the affirmations of this group, offering a portrayal of the contemporary Slavic witch, encompassing their approach to practice, their connection with their own spirituality, and their core beliefs. The examination of their activities on social media is intended to complement this portrait. Hence, the study elucidated in this chapter serves as a supplementary addendum, and its findings should be examined in conjunction with the preceding segment in a complementary manner.
