ABSTRACT

This chapter continues to explore the application of No Bullshit Therapy (NBT) with clients who have experienced trauma. A detailed first-session verbatim transcript with a commentary from a neuropsychological perspective is presented. The transcript provides a practical example of how NBT approaches can soothe a hypervigilant nervous system on the look-out for threat. Detailed feedback from the client’s perspective is particularly informative.

This chapter also looks at how NBT can be surprisingly effective in managing blame and shame. It addresses some of the key factors that lead clients to act in less than co-operative ways towards helping professionals. And as usual, it shares lots of practical examples and tips to help translate the theory into practice.
