ABSTRACT

Safety strategies are provided in this chapter to give the reader confidence that there are remedies to the risks of applying No Bullshit Therapy (NBT). These strategies are also helpful if a practitioner’s initial efforts don’t work out well. The reader is reminded that all therapy involves risk, especially work with therapy-haters, and that the best way of creating safety is by applying all the NBT Clinical Guidelines thoroughly.

The range of safety strategies includes seeking client feedback, talking about the talking, checking in regularly with the client, using intuition and judgement, apology, and stopping and starting again. Practical examples are provided to bring the strategies alive, all of which are underlined by a culture of authenticity.
