ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 investigates facets of love, differentiating it from liking, and delving into types of love, brain connections, satisfaction, gender, and age. The prototypical features’ definition and arousal’s misattribution in love are discussed. Theoretical frameworks cover causal theories focusing on arousal and cognitive involvement, and type theories including Lee’s six “colors” and Sternberg’s components of love. Rempel and Burris conceptualize love as a motivational state. Research findings indicate diverse experiences due to typologies, and explore brain regions and neurotransmitters associated with lust, passionate love, and attachment.
