ABSTRACT

Hundreds of studies that showed in beautiful graphs, in long tables what exactly the impact is on employees, the organization and the leader him – or herself of knowing/showing strength and weaknesses, appreciating others, being open to learning and seeing the bigger picture. The only thing we know is that in the game of large numbers more humility in leaders leads to more creativity. The consequence of this view from the balcony is that it enables the manager to choose flexibly between all different modes of reactions as well as between different leadership behaviors. A therapist's humility creates a stronger and more supportive relationship with the patient. The humble therapist listens more to the patient, takes on their perspective and judges less. Since purpose motivation are some of the key drivers for performance, it is surprising that one of the key findings in humility research is that it improves the performance of the employees as well as elements.
