ABSTRACT

Alex Okosi, media mogul, understood at a young age that his bigger picture was the team. As a teenager he had been proud to have scored 38 out of 50 points for his basketball team. When the coach chided him on what kind of teamwork that was, the penny dropped. In one company this was particularly striking. Innovation was the topic of the seminar. Participants were the management boards and top managers of the subsidiaries. In addition to the professors from the business school, the group management board was present for one afternoon each time. In each of the nine rounds, the participants from the subsidiaries demanded a budget for innovation from the group management board. A perfect stalemate. And one which reveals that both sides were actually taking responsibility for what they believed to be vital, but rather preferred to be a victim of the other side.
