ABSTRACT

One of the key determinants of Smart City development are technological and infrastructural conditions. However, from the perspective of the residents and the quality of life, they have a slightly different dimension than that from the image and business perspective. For residents, housing conditions and transport infrastructure are important. For the long-term development of a Smart City, entrepreneurship and innovation are also important, which is a guarantee of continuous improvement of the above-mentioned conditions. For these reasons, this chapter describes the technological and infrastructural determinants of the quality of life in a Smart City in theoretical and empirical terms – in light of the survey results conducted in Polish cities and on the example of selected case studies of Central and Eastern European cities.
