ABSTRACT

The Masterson Approach evolved from observing, empathizing, and clinically adapting to the various separation-individuation difficulties disorders of self analysands face. Through no less than six stages, starting in 1956 and ending in 2010, Dr. Masterson published more than 14 volumes and countless articles on the borderline, narcissistic, and schizoid disorders of self. The Masterson Approach also influenced various independent clinicians and treatment approaches and continues to influence multiple psychoanalytic clinicians and institutes.
