ABSTRACT

While the sections above sought to identify the downsides and challenges of education today, this section seeks to highlight the Forces for Change unleashed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution in transforming learning in the century ahead; not only in helping reframe the curriculum, pedagogy and assessment systems of education itself but in applying the power of new Smart technology to personalising learning, increasing the support and reforming assessment for learners of all ages at all stages in the era of Lifelong Learning and Re-Learning (LLL) ahead. Covid-19 brought on-line learning to life for billions of school children across the globe, but it equally highlighted the dangers of technological dependence and chaos if governments do not strictly regulate such astonishing innovations as Generative AI and classroom robots to ensure they serve the needs of education and not just the profits and power of Big Tech.
