ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the Plato’s Cave and it ends with the hero’s and shero’s journey. Recall, Plato’s Cave tells the story of a person moving out of ignorance and towards knowledge and wisdom, and then after seeing reality clearly, the story discusses what happens when the person returns to the cave to talk to people. The hero’s journey is based in the work of Joseph Campbell, the twentieth-century mythologist, who discovered that cultures across the globe had a similar myth how humans, in order to become fully human, go through a series of experiences. Harry Potter went through the hero’s journey, but all of us must go on it. My hope is that the social action campaign has been a hero’s and shero’s adventure. In the campaign, it is my hope that you accepted a call to adventure and that you found a mentor who had special knowledge of the social conditions surrounding your issue how to bring social change.
