ABSTRACT

Possibly one of the greatest gifts the parents can give their child is confidence. The other side of self-esteem is confidence. The child’s confidence is equal to the square of the parents’ confidence in the child. Up until the end of the 1970s it was thought that the best way to motivate a child was to praise their effort. There are many studies that have tried to find the most effective phrase or message to boost a child’s motivation and confidence. Responsibility is an excellent way to develop a child’s confidence. Every child can take responsibility for many tasks in their education and care. The sooner they start doing them, the easier they will seem and the more confidence they will acquire in their own abilities. A child who grows up feeling that their parents have confidence in them will grow to be an adult who is capable of achieving their goals and aspirations.
