ABSTRACT

Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets. Intellectual abilities are almost exclusively controlled by the cerebral cortex, which is the outermost region of the brain, and which is identified by its folds and endless wrinkles. As the child learns and develops new skills, hundreds of billions of synapses, or nerve connections, begin to appear. These give the adult brain its volume and characteristic wrinkles. The world around them is the best teacher for the intellectual brain, and in this sense the most important thing for the child is to have opportunities to explore in different environments and with different people. Many people identify intellectual capacity by means of their intelligence quotient (IQ). The IQ is an invention of the early 20th century, designed to classify children according to their level of intelligence and give specialist attention to those who needed it.
