ABSTRACT

A child with a good memory learns faster, remembers more details and usually enjoys the learning process. Studying and learning are easy and stimulating tasks for them. Memory is also key to helping the children fulfil their dreams and be happier because this helps the child to have more self-confidence. Studies have found that a specific type of conversation during childhood favours memory and learning capacity in adolescence and adult life. This communicative style is characterised by great elaboration of the narratives, ordering the events by time, emphasising the details that happened and focusing the child’s attention on those moments that were fun or positive. This style of conversation is called “positive—elaborative”. One of the secrets of excellent memory is order. Another interesting strategy is to help the child reach memories that are stored in remote places of their memory.
