ABSTRACT

This group of ten letters offers specific tools and techniques taken from the QST method to deal with difficult situations that may occur at any time of the day. The first outlines effective sensory solutions to resolve aggressive behaviors such as hitting, biting, kicking and spitting. A master trainer’s letter offering a touch-based solution on how to get a child out of defensive stress mode is followed by a series of letters that focus on specific techniques that incorporate energy points, as defined by Chinese medicine, to help quiet tantrums and outbursts and help a child focus their attention and responsiveness. The following letters provide guidance on how to facilitate transitions for a child who has difficulty with transitions, along with an effective approach to address a child’s spontaneous expression of emotions and feelings. The approach reassures parents that these expressions are both expectable and often very positive. Finally, letters from parents offer helpful advice that is based on their personal experiences.
