ABSTRACT

This chapter explores approaches to support issues associated with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). It focuses on the theoretical underpinning, research studies and evidence-based research and practice, for some of the main approaches used in an educational context. It will signpost you to videoclips and case studies to how the approach is being used in practice and invite you to find out about past and contemporary government policies in this area. You will examine underpinning theory and research evidence-based research in relation to a number of approaches related to this area such as Nurture Groups, Comic Strip Conversations, Zones of Regulation, five-point scale, therapeutic, therapy and support for executive functioning issues.
