ABSTRACT

Clothes are closely linked with remembrance, with the distinct material qualities of textiles allowing these imprints to be sensed. They contain different narrations and stories. Due to rapid consumption, many garments end up as discarded waste, concealing the stories and memories they hold. Within this chapter, Bergson's concepts regarding time and memory offer a lens to perceive the nonlinear temporal dimension of fashion. By examining the multifaceted concept of fashion, its meanings, and the profound attachments users develop with their attire, this chapter aims to illustrate the interaction of clothes, which are among the objects people use most in our daily lives, with bodies in motion and action.
