Actors and Factors in Libya

This chapter focuses on the actors who contributed to the Libyan uprisings and to the role of the Libyan military. This chapter then explores the factors relevant to the uprisings of 2011 and the correlation between these factors and the military’s behavior during the conflict. While this chapter does not examine all actors and factors of the Libyan uprisings, it selects key players and elements that are relevant to this research. In brief, this chapter aims to demonstrate the extent to which the actors and factors influenced the role of the Libyan military.
