Actors and Factors in Tunisia

This chapter first focuses on the actors who contributed to the Arab uprisings and the role of the military. This part then explores the factors relevant to the uprisings of 2010–2011 and the correlation between these factors and the military’s behavior during the uprisings. While this chapter does not examine all actors and factors of note in this part, it selects key players and elements that are relevant to this research. In brief, this chapter aims to demonstrate the extent to which the actors and factors influenced the role of the military.
