ABSTRACT

China has abundant experiences with different types of governance but made a little theoretical contribution to political science. This chapter discusses SIOG policy, namely special-issue-oriented governance, as a new potential governance type balancing the paradox of localization and globalization knowledge to bridge this gap between China’s practice and comparative political theory. The chapter first analyzes the different governance types and their influences on China’s studies. It then points out the application difficulties of various governance types and practices of SIOG in China. The implementation and (dis)advantages of SIOG are also discussed. The authors finally make comparisons between SIOG and other types of governance. The findings lead to some potential theory implications in the conclusion part.
