ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the problematic nature of the child sexual abuse and exploitation issue and how it has become one of the most prolific global issues of our time for children and adults exposed to this material. The idea that this is the most pernicious type of online harm and Cybertrauma a child can face as a victim or viewer is a theme throughout the chapter. Spaces where perpetrators of crimes against children are located and how this material is traded and sought are discussed, whilst keeping the reader safe from traumatic descriptions. The typology of the offender is also considered as to what the reader and practitioner can think about when working with families, children and infants. Language, culture and biases towards older victims are also pertinent to the point in the chapter.
