ABSTRACT

The chapter is a deep dive into the complexities afforded by the definitions and typologies of online harm with a discussion about the impact of on- and offline overlaps of crime and and how these issues of harm will be included in the online safety bill and regulations being designed for the online world. There is a reflection on the real-world safeguarding definitions and how these will become applicable to the online space and how practitioners need to reduce their knowledge gap of the harms, with a view of the phenomenological and subjective aspects of this topic. There is a short discussion about privacy rights and freedoms and dystopian suggestions about technology. There are helplines at the end of the chapter for readers.
