ABSTRACT

This chapter examines Jordan Peterson’s 12 Rules for Life, which offers an interesting mix of Jungian philosophy, evolutionary psychology, and Christian theology. Like so many of the writers and theorists, Peterson tends to erase the difference between humans and other animals. This repression of what makes us human is often tied to his return to traditional social hierarchies, prejudices, and stereotypes. For instance, he equates humans to lobsters in order to show how cultural and psychological dominance is based on biological determinism.
