ABSTRACT

This chapter answers the question of why it is important to know what makes us human. It turns out that the only way we can begin to know ourselves and our world is if we fully comprehend why we are neither computers nor animals. Therefore, if we want to build a more just and sustainable world, we have to be able to fully grasp human reason, and this process requires a deeper understanding of human sexuality, thought, and language. Moreover, it is only psychoanalysis that can provide the path to this understanding.
