ABSTRACT
The chapter aims to introduce the innovation of synonyms in Modern Chinese. In so doing, the general introduction of development of synonyms in Modern Chinese is firstly made. The chapter then elucidates the derivation of polysyllabic synonyms. Following this, the compositions of polysyllabic synonyms are fully discussed. The chapter finally summarizes massive development of Modern Chinese synonyms.
