ABSTRACT

This section presents the topological situation of jouissance in the discourse of the hysteric. It analyzes particular elements from Freud’s case of Dora. The section shows that the construction of a hysterical fantasy is characterized by an attempt to create a desire between ‘man’ and ‘woman’. It also shows how the fundamental fantasy in neurosis is characterized by the attempt to overcome or bypass the radical alterity of sex. The section further distinguishes among the types of jouissance that characterize neurosis.
