ABSTRACT
Virtual production LED display technology and hardware is thoroughly examined in Chapter 16. LED displays (as separate from LED processors) are dissected and explained. The authors offer insights into areas of color reproduction, luminance, and temporal, spatial, and physical characteristics of the display. LED panel specifications and display validation protocols are highlighted and discussed. The reader will learn the questions to ask when choosing an LED panel, specifically how to ascertain the production’s particular need, and offering up solutions for multiple scenarios. The equipment that ties it all together (i.e., the tools that connect cameras, monitors, and LED displays to the computers used in virtual production) is outlined in detail, as is integral gear like playback servers and others.
