Chapter 8 explores digital assets. The creation and acquisition of digital assets, workflows, and how they are used.

How textures are created and used. Many specific Unreal Engine and Unity tips and tricks are included. The authors highlight how to capture surfaces with photogrammetry to create assets and how to use miniatures for virtual production. Machine learning and artificial intelligence used in procedural digital asset creation are also examined, including character-specific work and markerless motion capture, environments, and concept art. The chapter concludes with a “how to” for 2D photographic elements and their usage in virtual production. This is a great basic guide to one of the most important and often overlooked aspects of both real-time and virtual production assets.
