ABSTRACT

Over the past decade digital platforms have played a key role in disrupting several industries, notably, media, hotel, transportation, publishing, and retail. These platforms are successful in disrupting industries that are information intensive, fragmented, and encumbered by roadblocks and regulatory controls. Digital primary care models enable payers and employers to form alliances with traditional healthcare organizations for services across the care continuum. Leading healthcare systems have long recognized the power of digital platforms. Besides increasing patient access, these platforms enable innovative care solutions by combining AI technologies with care models. In addition, Healthcare Organizations should cultivate a change management culture to effectively transition to functional and process disruptions that result from digital transformation efforts. The remediation process can increase organizational understanding of the requirements for digital transformation. The chapter also presents an overview on the key concepts discussed in this book.
