ABSTRACT

The healthcare system is highly fragmented with patient care provided by a myriad of hospitals, ambulatory clinics, labs, imaging centers, pharmacies, and practitioners. The health system is currently transitioning to the AI-enabled DHP phase. The technology enablers in this phase are further decentralizing EHI through nontraditional providers of care that service select parts of the care continuum and patients that use mobile health apps such as fitness devices for patient wellness and wearable devices for early diagnosis and treatment of diseases. AI-enabled devices will play an increasingly important role since they continuously monitor and improve patient treatment using machine learning models. Finally, transitioning chronic disease management to home care models can significantly reduce the cost of care while improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.
