ABSTRACT

This chapter explores strategies for Healthcare Organizations (HCOs), including developing a digital health vision, selecting Digital Health Platforms (DHPs), and considering DHP governance philosophy and participation strategies. While digital health strategy may appear daunting, HCO executives well understand that most strategies are five-year plans that should be implemented in phases that reflect short-, medium-, and long-term business objectives. Virtual care models can impact patient care across the HCO due to their reach and convenience. While digital health strategy may appear daunting, HCO executives well understand that most strategies are five-year plans that should be implemented in phases that reflect short-, medium-, and long-term business objectives. Platform governance reflects philosophy and ethics of digital health platforms management. It is important for HCOs to understand platform governance to determine compatibility with organizational ethics and digital health strategy. A digital health strategy in hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers will likely comprise multiple DHPs with participation levels designed to achieve organizational objectives.
