ABSTRACT

Teachers are confronted with circumstances beyond their control that negatively impact their ability to do their job. Financial, societal, and mental health concerns coalesce to present significant obstacles. I propose that despair and hopelessness are not inevitable outcomes. Teachers can exert a positive influence and achieve productive results using practical, powerful, and effective strategies. The strength-based approach offers an alternative to focusing on the remediation of deficits by providing a framework emphasizing student assets and capabilities. This empowers teachers to promote resiliency for themselves and their students.
