ABSTRACT

I really like reading historical fiction. I mean, I really really like it. The bloodier, the better! My favourite works are either set during the reign of the Roman Empire or during the Viking age, and they involve lots of battles and raiding and peril. The thing is, while some of these stories are of decent literary merit, most are clearly written to a template. And when a series runs to ten or more instalments, the template becomes pretty obvious. But I don’t care—these are my favourite things to read!
