ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the essentials of good contracting at the start of neurodiversity coaching. While experienced coaching readers will recognise the importance of contracting, the chapter draws attention specifically to elements of neurodivergence such as disability status and how this might impact scope, consent, data protection, safeguarding and more. The chapter draws out that disability status, which is not a given for neurodivergent people but a very real possibility, puts all interactions and data into the category of legally ‘protected condition’ and ‘medical grade’ confidentiality. This chapter is good revision for any coach, and essential reading for novice coaches.
