ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the career potential associated with neurodivergence and how to recognise and support coachees’ strengths, values, hopes and ambitions. This chapter begins by outlining the greatest joys and challenges in neurodiversity coaching as reported by coaches to provide context. This sets the scene for outlining typical neurodivergent strengths and how to harness these, which include innovation and creativity. Specific techniques for eliciting and focusing on strengths with coachees, such as applied cognitive task analysis (ACTA), challenge reframing and modelling mastery are included. The chapter then turns to neurodivergent careers and helping coachees to realise their potential for promotion, advancement and leadership.
