Conclusion

The monograph’s conclusion triangulates modernist, postmodern, and middlebrow implications of echotourism through a close reading of Paul Theroux’s Ghost Train to the Eastern Star: On the Tracks of “The Great Railway Bazaar” (2008). It argues that the material realities of contemporary tourism are an important and frequently ignored context for reading literary echotourism.
